Allergic Lung Diseases not Mediated by IgE
Yoo Se-Hwa

Kang Suck-Young
Abstract
The respiratory diseases which result from the interaction of antigen with IgE(type I of allergy, anaphylactic type, IgE dependent type) were reviewed on various medical journals in Korea by Kang, one of the writers.
In this paper allergic lung diseases associated with other types of immune mechanisms except anaphylactic type, such as cytotoxic reactions (cytolytic type, type II ), immune-complex reactions (Arthus¢¥ type, type 19), and reactions due to cell-mediated hypersensitivity (delayed type, type IV) are discussed.
Each of these immune mechanisms produces characteristic inflammatory changes in the lung, and the immunologic abnormalities involved may often be identified by appropriate testing. In some of these diseases, a combination of the various types of immune reactions may be involved.
The specific immune mechanisms involved in pathogenesis is often suspected, but not always ascertained.
